Tiffany

Hello my name is Tiffany and today I am a gratefully recovering Alcoholic/Addict. Thanks to Tawanda and the Program I am Recovery! As far back as I can remember, I have lived the lifestyle of an addict. Addiction has haunted me and my family our entire lives. Starting at the early age of 12 years old. Although, I was born into an ordinary middle class family, Dad a politician/preacher and mom, a school teacher. No matter how much my family tried to save me. My early childhood was plagued with low self-esteem, extreme depression, and chronic fear of everyday activities. This burden called “life” was just all too much for me. I, like many others, fell victim to decades of drug abuse. Now at the age of 39 years old I am finally giving My new life a chance. I have been part of the I am Recovery Program since almost the very beginning of my journey with sobriety. My Path of recovery has truly been amazing! With Tawanda‘s help, I am learning to breathe again without substances in my body! I am Recovery has helped me to change my whole outlook on life. On a daily basis, I choose to remain grateful and proactive in recovery. I am so grateful for Tawanda holding my hand and guiding me step by step. Today it is possible to love me and others. Because of her guidance, I am a productive member of society. Self-doubt and fear no longer control my entire world. Today I am showing up for life on life’s terms no matter what! And actually Loving IT!

Thank you I am Recovery!

I could not have made it this far without your support. I am no longer alone.?

Wendy

My name is Wendy and I first met ” I Am Recovery ” in a very hopeless place. I was introduced to Tawanda going to the groups that she held at CCA Women’s Prison. I was scared, lost, and needed guidance in the right direction to not only stay sober but to restart my life. And the change in my life began in the room of I Am Recovery. I am 19 months clean and I have an amazing relationship with God, my family, and my sponsor. I used to worry a lot, about everything. And I was so discouraged about all that I had done wrong in my life. I Am Recovery has helped me forgive myself, to fight for my life, find peace, serenity, and friends for life that really care about me and my well-being. There are no words to express my gratitude to the program. “I Am Recovery” gave me hope, faith, and determination to change the way I was living. I am so grateful for Ms. Murray. She has stood by me every step of the way and I’m proud to say that Tawanda and “I Am Recovery” are still a huge part of my life today.

Catherine

My name is Catherine. I have struggled with mental illness for most of my adult life. These struggles led me into trouble with the law. I was incarcerated for 8 months. During this time we had visits from I Am Recovery. This brought me hope & resources i desperately needed. A voice of others with similar experiences & needs. As i was released ; I Am Recovery was there for me. Ms Murray stayed in touch with calls, messages & meetings. These gave me courage & hope. It also opened my eyes. To wonder how i could help others. Now a few months out; i am working, in counseling & adjusting to life . I have hope for my future. Every day brightened by my support system. I Am Recovery.
